My name is Bethany Pousson. I was born in Austin in 1972 and grew up in the West Lake Hills area, attending Eanes ISD and St. Michael's Academy. I have one brother, one sister and my parents are Dr. Tom and Kathy Bradfield. I have always loved children and worked as a nanny, babysitter and horseback teacher from high school and throughout the years. I began a Marketing degree in high school and later changed that to Accounting and then Business Management. In 1994, life gave me a curve ball; while pregnant with my twin girls, Kelsey and Megan, I began working towards opening WESTLAKE CHILDCARE. I completed my childcare director's license and a very good friend and I opened as business partners in 1996. I worked very hard on obtaining our special use permit and studying every spare moment on child development, business and accounting, both in and out of college. My son, Tyler, was born during this time in 1997. I have completed 100s of CEUs in child development, concentrating on brain development in preemies, infants and young children . We increased enrollment and changed to a fully licensed facility in 1999, where I took over the business soon after. As the years have past, i have slowly moved out of the classroom and into more of an administrative role. I have opened five different businesses and I continue to help maintain Pousson Construction, Keller Landing and WESTLAKE CHILDCARE. On November 26, 2005, I delivered Parker, our grand finale and we currently live in the Lakeway area. My girls are now 16 yrs old and Tyler is 14 yrs. Kelsey, Megan and Tyler are all honor students in Lake Travis ISD. I can hardly believe my girls are almost Juniors at Lake Travis High School! Megan is into music, cooking and horseback riding and is a wonderful artist! Kelsey plays the electric guitar, rides horses and loves to read and work with animals! Tyler is into football, poll vaulting, building anything he can get his hands on and loves being with his grandfather at the ranch! Parker is five and keeps us very busy with bikes, books, playing with cousins, the "Hoppin House" and outdoor fun! My husband is as good as they get. He is a hard worker and owns Pousson Construction, but is extremely involved in each of our lives. He has been a coach on and off the field their whole life! I am very lucky to have such a wonderful husband and incredible children! I have also been very blessed to have the teachers and staff that I have had contribute to WCC throughout the past 15 years. Each of our staff member brings something different to WCC and allow for a diverse culture that can meet the individual needs of our students. WCC has a team strategy that is comprised of caring individuals, whom love children and want to make a positive difference in each student's life. WESTLAKE CHILDCARE would not be where it is today without such an amazing group of woman! I am extremely grateful to each of them!
WCC is very important to me and although you might not see my face often, I am very informed of WCC daily events through the help of video monitoring, classroom evaluation and daily conferences with our on site assistant director & Co-Director. I always appreciate any suggestions from parents and staff, in an effort to provide the care that I would want for my own children! I will always do my best to ensure that Westlake Childcare and our staff members uphold the beliefs that I believe are essential in caring for happy, healthy, well-adjusted children. I am a mother, first and foremost, so I understand the gravity of your decision in choosing our center. I will try to highlight a few of my beliefs in a brief paragraph below, but if you ever have a question or concern, please contact me ASAP.
"I believe each child is an individual and has a different map for learning. A teacher should work towards mutual respect with each child, while discovering his/her authentic means of reaching developmental milestones and self discovery. Each teacher is required to know infant and child CPR and must complete annual training to keep her classroom safe, innovative and fun! I believe babies should have as much floor-time as possible, on their bellies; this helps them build upper body strength as well as an enormous amount of confidence as they discover the world around them and realize they can manipulate their surroundings. WCC children are encouraged to sit at the table and chairs, practicing manners and independent eating. WCC's programs facilitate a love for learning that will last a life time. Teaching is most productive when initiated by an individual's interest, especially when the individual is under the age of 5yrs, when attention spans run short. Therefore, we follow an emergent curriculum throughout the day with defined centers to promote skill building and socialization with their peers in addition to a monthly theme-based curriculum, making sure each child is exposed to early literacy, math, science, physical education and the arts. All of our curriculum material meet accreditation standards and guidelines, while helping each child reach developmental benchmarks contributing to their higher self-esteem and pride!
Westlake Childcare is devoted to being an extension of your family. Teachers are instructed to be completely informative about each child's day! This is essential in establishing individual care. We continue to work with each family, making adjustments until your child feels secure and knows that you will always return. We know how important your child is and we feel honored that you have entrusted us with the care of your little love! "
Thanks for choosing WESTLAKE CHILDCARE as your child's home away from home! Bethany Pousson

AMANDA: Co-Lead INFANT Teacher (younger infants)
Let me start by introducing myself and giving you a little insight into who I am. My Name is Amanda Adamson , I'm a proud mommy to two wonderful little boys, and love to spend time with my family. I've been at WCC for a year and a half and I love my job! While working at WCC I've worked in the Infant room, Pre-Toddler room, Lead Teacher in the Toddler Room, Pre-K and recently taken over the Lead Teacher position in the INFANT room. WCC has been a wonderful place for me and my boys to learn and grow together. I chose to work in Early Childhood Education because the first few years of development are important in a child's building blocks in their future years of education. I enjoy creating a loving and fun environment for learning and play, and look forward to meeting you and your children.
Ms. Amanda

ANNA: Lead Toddler Teacher/ Curriculum Teacher: I moved to Austin in 2010, and began working here at WCC soon after I had gotten settled. Over the past year I have worked here, I have gotten the opportunity to work in all of the classrooms, getting to know the children and the workings of WCC while I earned my degree. In December 2011, I graduated from St. Edward's University with a bachelor's degree for early childhood - 6th grade education. After that, I have started to work full time at WCC and am now the lead teacher in the Toddler room. ASHLEY:Sub-Teacher
Hello to all my new friends, and friends I have yet to meet! My name is Ashley Hammonds, also known as Ms. Ashley, Ashy, Ahee, A, or whatever else the tots come up with. I am the lead teacher in the Toddler Room and have worked at WCC for about one year and one month. I started as an assistant in the Infant Room then moved to Pre-K lead teacher. Now I guide the sweetest age, 18 months to 2 years, into self discovery and expression through identifying and understanding our feelings and what to do with them. I got my start in this field when I was only 15 years old volunteering at the Salvation Army Boy?s and Girl?s Club, and the rest is history; I have been doing it ever since. I love the outdoors, anything creative, and natural, and fun. I believe my style of teaching/being really reflects those things. I feel right at home in WCC because that?s just what it is, a home. It?s the sort of place that reminds us we are all a part of one big family taking care of each other. I have a lot of love to bring and can promise every time we meet you will be greeted with a smile and open arms. I am really looking forward to it.Love,Ms. Ashley
